Run Your Age! How old are you this year?

Ah, I love a good numerical coincidence or goal to geek over.  I stumbled across this article in the Guardian this week and it's really struck a chord with me on so many levels.  Basically it suggests the idea that you could celebrate your birthday by running the distance to match your age.  You choose, either km or miles.  Sounds good so far, good goal to add to my 2018 list.... I turn 42 this year.  Being perfectly honest about my running ability, I'm not close to being capable of running 42 miles anytime soon (but never say never...) but 42km.... I went away to check what that would be in mileage as I'm an imperial unit runner 😄 I couldn't believe it when I realised that 42km is actually just over 26 miles!  A marathon!  Arrgh - that's a funny coincidence that I happened to read this article, in this year, when my age = marathon.  It's a sign I need to run a marathon this year isn't it?  It doesn't get much clearer than that....

What about January? Month review: Running, eating, adventure planning...

So I guess it's not unusual for January to NOT go to plan?  My non-January wasn't through poor choices, more around unfortunate events - mostly health related.  I've prided myself of being super healthy and resilient to bugs throughout 2017, I guess they had to catch up with me eventually! I was struck down with a viral infection mid month and this lead to a secondary bacterial infection which absolutely floored me and left me in bed for the best part of three weeks.  But after some amazing NHS care and some strong drugs, I'm clawing my way back to health now and I'm ready to pick up the pieces of January's shattered goals! RED January - I ran 21/31 days in January which is a pretty poor show in terms of a monthly running streak!  This was about the 4th time I've done a monthly running streak and the first time I've failed to run every day.  I can honestly say, I missed no runs through choice.  I don't feel the need to 'go back' and run ...
